On Saturday 4 September we will be holding the thirteenth annual Woking and Horsell awards following our final league games, to celebrate the good, the incredible, and the not so good that neatly sums up a season at W&HCC. Once again, we have had plenty of all three this year and there has been lots of discussion as to who will win what.
This year the awards will be presented by Phill West and Henri Peters.
We will be presenting a Player of the Year for each of our five teams as well as Best Newcomer, Batsman, Bowler, Fielder, Young Player and Clubperson of the year so there is much to play for as we enter the last couple of league games this season.
We will also be presenting many other awards to those whose season may not have hit the heights of those winning official awards ie Injury of the Year (we've obviously managed to have a few of these) and Most Ducks (an award that requires a fair bit of research).
The evening is a fancy dress evening so you required to dress in anything beginning with a W or an H to celebrate our clubs name.
The event will be held at the club as soon as is possible after our final league games so please get back to the club as soon as you can. Bear in mind that the second team are unhelpfully at Streatham that day.
You never know, you may win something! We hope you can make it.
A small piece of club history was made on Wednesday 12th May as the Club played what is believed to be its first ever hard-ball junior girls match against Thames Ditton in the U12 age group of the Smash It Surrey League.
We are going to be using slate app for match fees this season. Please keep an eye on your inbox / junk (spam) for a link to set up your account. If you have any issues please contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Below is a quick guide on how Slate works
Players receive an email from Slate with instructions on how to download, set up the App and enter their bank details to GoCardless. It takes two minutes.
After matches, players go to the Slate App, select their name in the fixture, and pay. Simple. Please note – players have to initiate payments through Slate, rather than the club drawing money from players accounts as in a direct debit mandate
All players that leave a match receive an email reminding them they owe for the fixture. For players who haven’t paid a reminder automatically issues, with a third reminder on the following Saturday if the fee remains outstanding.
