2013 looks set to be another very exciting year of cricket in the UK. England hosts the ICC Champions Trophy before we welcome the Aussies back to our shores for a highly anticipated (if uncompetitive) Ashes series.
And we should all be looking forward to another very successful summer for W&HCC. 2012 was a standout year for the club and is going to be a hard act to follow:

The New Year is here and that means we need to get started on preparations for WHCC’s 2013 season. As you may know, Woking Leisure Centre is undergoing refurbishments this winter so isn’t available for our usual Tuesday night session. This, unfortunately, means we have had to make a couple of different net bookings and will need to divide ourselves between these. Whilst not ideal, rest assured that this is only for this winter while Woking Leisure Centre isn’t available.
We have agreed that the simplest way to manage this is to split the sessions by teams so the nets will work as follows:
The price of each session will be £3 per person. U17 £2. We hope to see you there.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Woking & Horsell Cricket Club has achieved Clubmark status. The accreditation was officially made on 8 October 2012. The Clubmark accreditation recognises clubs who:
- deliver quality cricketing programmes through integration with the local community;
- maintain high levels of duty of care for junior players, and;
- demonstrate good club management.
The accreditation is designed to assist clubs with attracting new members and retaining current ones, as well as assisting the club when applying for funding or seeking new sponsors, among other objectives.
The club would like to extend our sincere gratitude to David Barter for his extensive efforts in getting the club to this major milestone. The achievement of Clubmark required management of a long and sometimes complicated application and accreditation process, including detailed ECB paperwork and visits to the ground for inspection.
Club policies relating to the accrediation of Clubmark can be found in the Clubmark section of the website.
As part of the standard process the club will be subject to annual checks and three-yearly re-applications to ensure that we remain up to scratch.
Should you have any questions about Clubmark please direct them via the club secretary Trevor Woods.
This year's WHCC Annual Ball was another raging success, with over 70 attendees. The food and drink was, as always, excellent, and a large number of members and friends danced late into the night with the DJ. A special thank you must got to Carol Ming who organised and ran proceedings for the night in her usual efficient and effective manner. A further thank you must also be extended to those who donated raffle prizes on the night including The Red Lion Pub, Horsell, The Cricketers Pub, Horsell, Waitrose, The Hockey Centre/Ceelect Sports, Horsell Fish and Chips, Parker’s Dry Cleaning Services and Beijing Restaurant in Horsell.
A very special thanks to our colts sponsors, Global Travel Management, who generously provided our top prize of two return flights for two people anywhere in Europe. The prize was won by an extremely excited and grateful Karen, who says her and slow-medium pace bowling partner Jonny will be heading off to Rome in the new year.
We hope to see you all next year for another enjoyable evening.
