The weather was terrible, I lost the toss and we were put into bat. Jan and Toby started well but then a regular flow of wickets for the opposition bought James and I to the crease, we slowly re-built our innings and with a splendid maiden 50 for the club Digby brought our scoring in the rain to a respectable 236/9 with a handy little knock from Henri adding impetus and getting us to a respectable total. Morlers 38, I got 34.

It was then that the weather played 2nd fiddle as we clearly had the best tea in the league, small burgers, fried onions, pizza, sandwiches, mini sausage rolls, mini apple pies with cream, lemon cake, caramel cake, fruit and the odd pringle made sure that by the time the umpire decided we should try playing again we were all well and truly stuffed. A massive thanks to Farncombe for forcing us to stretch our tummies more than was needed.

We "rolled" onto the field and in making is 50 Digby had awoken the aggressive part we all knew he had, some unbelievable bouncers and great bowling between Digby and his protege' Henri saw the visitors ducking and diving. When the batsmen though started asking for sawdust for their footmarks and the houses adjacent to the ground disappeared due to rain we knew the game was off, the umpire called us off as rain just kept coming down in buckets.

A sad end to what was a big push from us to climb the league ladder, but well batted to our tail, now if only the top order would fire!

We left a wet Farncombe still full from tea, and look forward to better weather as the weekend rolls on yet again.

Cheers for now.
