What a great weekend - dry, warm, sunny and some cricket.
After an entertaining inter-club match on Saturday, the two W&H Sunday XIs went onto the field on Sunday.
The Sunday 2s were away at Cove, where they won an excellent game in the final over. Man of the match Jack Allen (61no and 2 wickets) had to buy his first jug when the team all arrived back at Brewery Road. Good assistance by Saggar and Khyaham in notching up the runs. Downside was a broken arm for Vice Captain Ayling. Photographic details on his recovery can be seen elsewhere.
The game at Brewery Road was a strange affair. The Surrey Gymkhana team were surprised at being put in and in an excellent opening spell, Calum Chisholm and Paul Fortescue had them pinned down. Calum bowled 6 overs taking 1 for 1. Calum alleges the one run came from bad fielding! The visitors were restricted to 109 all out - Tom Clarke bowled well to take 3, Smithy got a couple and Angus, Abdul and Olly one each.
The batsmen found it hard going and it was left to a good 50 from Wolffy, 21 from John and 26 not out from Olly to see the team home.
A few people took advantage of the open bar and great weather to enjoy their Easter Sunday - roll on next weekend.
