Thanks again to all who made the day a great success, despite the damp weather!

The second round of T20 matches took place on Tuesday 19 June. With the weather hardly being like a normal midsummer, the Midweek T20 XI lost to Galaxy at Westfield. Phill West scored an excellent 50, but Galaxy had posted 191 which proved to be an unassailable score. Qais Nawaz top scored for Galaxy with 52.

In the match at Brewery Road, the W&H youngsters won a good game against Old Woking. Set 124 to win, the lads got them with 6 wickets in hand. Jack Matthews took 2-0 towards the end of the Old Woking innings and Tom Sharpless also bagged 2 wickets. Batting wise, this match saw the return of the Tim Ming & Joe Dickson opening partnership. They set a solid foundation before skipper John Hargan took the game away from Old Woking with an excellent 41no.

Next Tuesday sees the log awaited derby - 6pm at Brewery Road.

Thanks to an almost superhuman effort by our groundsman, Ken Rapley and his good lady, Lesley, we managed to get some cricket on Brewery Road this weekend.

On Saturday 12th May, the 2nd XI hosted near neighbours Pyford CC. Despite the soft and difficult conditions, the game was completed and W&H posted their first victory after last season's promotion into Div 3.

After being put in, W&H struggled in the difficult conditions. Eventually all out with a few overs to spare for 125, it looked like it would be tough to defend. Jerry Day top scored with an excellent combination of aggression and patience.

The key was bowling tight and W&H did that. Pyrford's skipper was dangerous and looked like he could challenge the total, but once he went in the 20s, W&H wrapped up the match with a win by 60 runs. Pete Dunbar bowled straight and tight in taking 3, with support from James Woods and John Hargan (2 each), Zeeshan and Roger White (1 each) and an outstanding run out from Pete Day.

Thanks again to Ken, Lesley, the excellent Pyrford umpire and Jan Worgan for an outstanding tea.

On Sunday morning, the U17s hosted Guildford and won a tight match by 9 runs. Will Pyle was on fire before holing out whist in the 30s and W&H reached 108 in their 20 overs thanks to a last ball 6 from Qasim Asghar. Guildford looked good in the chase, but tight bowling by W&H restricted them to 99 in their 20 overs. A good team performance.

Don't forget to get your annual subs payment and membership form in as soon as possible. You may even get some cricket for your money if the weather eases up! As yet, we have no contingency plan for a refund if it rains every weekend of the summer...

This year we have added the option of completing your subs online. To do so please click here, or just follow the links from the Membership item in left hand menu. Please contact our Membership Secretary, Nick Tune if you need details for a bank transfer. Nick can also provide you with a paper form should you wish to do it the old fashioned way.

Just remember that all senior subscriptions paid before the end of this month will be just £95 (unaltered for the past five seasons, despite two recessions!), saving you a full £30 on the normal rate.
