Woking and Horsell's 3rd XI has finished their season on a high, defeating Chobham, and in the process securing second place in the league and subsequent promotion. Having played 13 games with 12 wins and one draw the team unfortunately lost two on the trot late in the season to leave third placed Woodmansterne within a win of clinching the promotion position. A strong effort last Saturday though ensured that the desired result was achieved with relative ease thanks to typically solid efforts with both the ball and the bat. The result means that the 3rds will leave behind the Fullers Surrey County League this year and will instead be competing next year in the Surrey Championship 3rd XI league.

A big thank you to all the players who contributed this season for the 3rd XI, especially those who made up the core of the team each week and reliably put in great performances. The club looks forward to welcoming all the 3rd XI players back next year for what will undoubtedly be another successful and enjoyable season of cricket.

- Jamie McMahon
3rd XI Captain

Woking and Horsell's 4th XI has won the Surrey Championship 4th XI West League in dominating fashion with a game still left to play. Having lost only one game this season, and having won all but two games by a margin of more than 50 runs or 5 wickets, they have gone from strength to strength. Credit to the shared skipper duties of Steve Wernberg and Mike Walsh who both had good season with the bat themselves. Also a big mention should be made of Billy Hargan's input on a weekly basis in selecting the side.

This year's performance sees the 4th XI promoted into the 4th XI premier division of the Surrey Championship 4th XI league - a position that they occupied just last year prior to being relegated. If this sort of form continues it's likely that they'll be contenders for league champions in that division as well!

Congratulations once again to all the players and helpers and we all wish the 4th XI the best of luck for 2011.

WHCC has now taken delivery of a brand new electronic scoreboard at Brewery Rd. The scoreboard, which has been generously sponsored by GTL Europe Limited, will be used at all home games and shows runs, wickets, overs, last innings and both batsman's current scores. This is a vast improvement on the existing mechanical score board which displays much less information and  has been prone to breaking down in recent times. We look forward to many years worth of use for the new scoreboard at the ground and sincerley thank GTL Europe Limited for their ongoing support.

On a damp and murky evening, Woking & Horsell U17s continued their excellent season by capturing the WSYCL championship in an exciting final against Bagshot. The match was in doubt due to heavy rain in Bagshot during the day, but the neutral umpires decided it was playable and, on winning the toss, W&H decided to bowl first. Despite the slippery conditions, W&H’s opening pair of Calum Chisolm and Dougie LeBrocq kept the Bagshot top order quiet. Calum’s extra pace was particularly difficult for the Bagshot batsmen to deal with. Bagshot recovered and were progressing at almost 5 an over – thanks to some strong performances from their middle order. However an impressive spell of 5-13 in his 4 overs by Henri Peters left the hosts on 112-8 at the close.
