It gives me enormous pleasure to announce that Woking & Horsell CC have been Clubmark reaccredited following our inspection by Surrey CCC this summer. This is a fantastic achievement and one that we should all be very proud of. Particular thanks go to Mike Tiplady for his leadership in his role as Colts Chairman and David Barter who in his role as Welfare Officer also took the lead with our application. Of course this would not be possible without the dedication, enthusiasm and commitment shown by all of our coaches across the various age groups, not to mention the many parents and senior players who play an active role in making our thriving colts section the success it is today.

For those of you interested in finding out more about Clubmark and what it means, I would direct you to the excellent website

For me the first couple of paragraphs on the Clubmark website say it all. They read “It shows that a club provides the right environment which ensures the welfare of members and encourages everyone to enjoy sport and stay involved throughout their lives. An accredited club is recognised as a safe, rewarding and fulfilling place for participants of all ages as well as helping parents and carers know that they're choosing the right club for their young people.”

Club Chairman

Congratulations to Tom Harlow who won the Woking Sports Personality of the Year Award at the Woking Sports Awards on Wednesday night at the HG Wells Suite. His category contained some tough competition, notably Woking FC's top goal-scorer from last season, Scott Rendell, however, Tom secured the award due to his consistently excellent perfornances as he led his team back into the Premier League at the first attempt. Tom has automatically been entered into the Surrey Awards as a result of his win.

We were well represented  at Woking and Horsell as Damien Honey was nominated by Surrey County Cricket Club for the Outstanding Services to Sport Award, for his excellent work on the Bedser week.

The latest AGM was a fairly uneventful one with only a couple of changes. The good news is that we have managed to hold on to the vast majority of our strong committee for 2016.

Neil McPherson will take over from Mike Tiplady as Colts Chairman following Mike's two years in the role and Andrew Murphy is stepping down as Communications Manager.

There was some lack of clarity around some of the captaincy appointments, however, Oli Guy will be taking over from Phill West as 2ndXI skipper, with Phill retaining his position as Cricket Chairman, and Dave Lane has subsequently decided that he will do another year in charge of the fives.

Thank you very much to all of those leaving the committee and captaincy roles for all of their hard work and good luck, and thank you, to those taking over.
