Congratulations to Tom Harlow who won the Woking Sports Personality of the Year Award at the Woking Sports Awards on Wednesday night at the HG Wells Suite. His category contained some tough competition, notably Woking FC's top goal-scorer from last season, Scott Rendell, however, Tom secured the award due to his consistently excellent perfornances as he led his team back into the Premier League at the first attempt. Tom has automatically been entered into the Surrey Awards as a result of his win.

We were well represented  at Woking and Horsell as Damien Honey was nominated by Surrey County Cricket Club for the Outstanding Services to Sport Award, for his excellent work on the Bedser week.

The latest AGM was a fairly uneventful one with only a couple of changes. The good news is that we have managed to hold on to the vast majority of our strong committee for 2016.

Neil McPherson will take over from Mike Tiplady as Colts Chairman following Mike's two years in the role and Andrew Murphy is stepping down as Communications Manager.

There was some lack of clarity around some of the captaincy appointments, however, Oli Guy will be taking over from Phill West as 2ndXI skipper, with Phill retaining his position as Cricket Chairman, and Dave Lane has subsequently decided that he will do another year in charge of the fives.

Thank you very much to all of those leaving the committee and captaincy roles for all of their hard work and good luck, and thank you, to those taking over.

Thank you very much indeed to the few that came down to the club on Saturday to help tidy up following a long season.  It is much appreciated. The club has now been put to bed for its winter hibernation.

Many of you will have already seen our fantastic new kitchen and it is with great pleasure that we formally announce the completion of this latest stage of improvement works at the club. The work was undertaken by James Allan, a friend of the club, and we extend our thanks to him for an excellent job.

We were delighted to receive a grant of £3,000 from the ECB through their Small Grants Scheme and very pleased to invest a further £1,000. The ECB, in awarding the grant, have recognised the great work that the club does in promoting cricket, particularly among the colts section, and the importance of excellent facilities in support of this.

We will continue to look at ways of improving the facilities at the club and would welcome any help you are able to provide in this endeavour.

A huge thank you to all of you that turned out for the W&HCC Awards Night 2015.  We had a great time putting it together and we hope you enjoyed being there. Despite some disappointing performances from our teams in general there have been some outstanding individual performances.
