On Sunday 21st July, the class of 95/96 finished their colts’ career at W&HCC, with a win in the final of the West Surrey Youth Cricket League.
This age group has enjoyed a significant amount of success in competitions over the years – winning the West Surrey Youth Cricket League 4 times, the Two Counties competition once and another local Cup competition.
Perhaps the group’s biggest achievement was to have so many of the lads still playing together after so many years. Many of these lads started together as U8s at WHCC! This is a testament to the strong teamwork and positive attitude the lads show when playing together. Unlike other teams, there are no superstars in this group – all the lads chip in and, most importantly, enjoy themselves.

As a way of rasing some additional funds to carry on the club's Sky subscription we have kicked off a Fantasy Football League. To join all you need to do is go here and join the league. The code for the W&H league is 358011-92534.
Joining the league is free, but we do ask that each participant please contribute £5 towards our fundraising. You can pass your payment onto Ben Lock behind the bar on a Saturday evening, or directly on to Matt Lock.
The winner of the fantasy league will get half of the takings from the donations, so get signed up early so as not to miss the first rounds of the Premiership starting on 17 August.
WHCC Chairman Peter Smith appeared on Brooklands Radio on 27 July to discuss the club and it's direction. This included the fantastic new partnership with Surrey Cricket Board as the home for their newly formed deaf cricket side. The podcast of the show is now available online for your listening pleasure.
We are delighted to announce that the inaugural Surrey Deaf County Cricket Club will be launched and based at Woking and Horsell Cricket Club. Junior training is fully inclusive aimed at 5 - 15 year olds of any standard, the sessions will run on July 31st and August 7th from 10am - 4pm and are completely free. The senior sessions will initially be trial sessions aimed at advanced players age 16 and over. The sessions take place on 31st July and 3rd August from 6 - 8pm at Woking and Horsell Cricket Club. Players interested in joining the side are invited to contact Surrey Cricket Club via This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 07500 818 390. Further detail is avialable on the Surrey Cricket Board website here.
The formation of this Club adds to the visually impaired, learning and physical disability and emerging players sides already in place at Surrey.
WHCC is extremely proud to be the home of the Surrey Deaf County Cricket Club and looks forward to many productive and enjoyable years of cricket in the future.
We are delighted to announce that the club has re-installed Sky in the clubhouse for the remainder of the season. The committee recognised that despite the high costs, it was an important investment to make and took advantage of an ECB deal to set it up. We hope that this will encourage people to use the facilities and stick around after games, especially given that it is an Ashes year.
In order to help out the running costs we will be putting 'Sky Fund' jars on the bar and hope that people will find ways to contribute to them over the coming months, for example the 1st XI have been contributing to it whenever they drop catches this year.
Finally an early warning that Saturday 3 August will be our nominated ECB Ashes Open Day. This is a day specifically designed to showcase our club to potential new members, volunteers and sponsors by opening up our club to the public and inviting them in to watch the cricket on and off the pitch. Matt Lock will be sending out more details about this as it gets closer, but please put this date in your diary now.
We look forward to seeing you all enjoying Sky Sports Champions League Final coverage in the bar on Saturday during the Nationalities party.
