Travelbag, the sponsor of the Surrey Championship for 2016, has announced three fabulous prize competitions for all of the players in the league. One lucky batsman, bowler and fielder will be walking away with a holiday for two at the end of the season, courtesy of Travelbag. Anyone reaching the qualifying criteria will be entered into an end-of-season draw, making this a competition anyone could win!
Prizes: Three five-night all-expenses-paid holidays for two people to Dubai (1x batting prize, 1x bowling prize, 1x catching prize (only one prize per winner).
Eligibility Criteria: All bona fide Travelbag Surrey Championship Club members (excluding contracted professionals and overseas registered players) playing in 2016 Travelbag Surrey Championship League matches (excluding T20).
Premier & Division1 1st XI: Runs 400+; Wickets = 20+; Catches = 16+
Divisions 2-4 1st XI Runs 360+; Wickets 16+; Catches 13+
Division 5 1st XI and all 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs: Runs 320+; Wickets 14+; Catches 12+

Criteria: Everyone reaching the qualifying criteria will enter either the batting draw, bowling draw or catching draw. One winner from each draw will be selected randomly by Travelbag at our awards dinner on 7 October at the Kia Oval. If a prize is won by an under 18 year then a parent/guardian will need to accompany them on the holiday. If the same person wins two prizes, a redraw will be made to ensure there are three different winners.
Terms and conditions: See Travelbag website for T&Cs. The decision of Travelbag is final, no correspondence will be entered into and there is no cash alternative to the prize.
Following the tragic and untimely loss of our friend Dave, your committee, and more importantly Dave’s family, have been discussing a fitting way to celebrate his cricketing life.
We have agreed that rather than hold our traditional President’s/Chairman’s Day on Sunday 26th June, we are going to hold two T20 matches at the club, one for the older colts and one for senior players.
The outline format for the day will be to start the Colts match a little earlier than previously published at around 12.30 and the Senior one after that finishes (approximately 3.30). We have booked a Hog Roast for 5pm and will also run the club BBQ as required. The bar will be open all day and we are using the day to promote the club more generally as part of the ECB Club Open Day scheme, supported by Waitrose so everyone is welcome to attend.
We would obviously like to see as many of you as possible throughout the day. Thank you. The teams are as below:

This Sunday, 12 June, the Sunday XI will be taking on an Andrew Statham XI as part of Andrew's 40th birthday celebrations (yeah, we thought he looked older than that too). The following sides will be taking part in a 20/20 match. Why not come down to the club from 11.30 and watch. The bar will be open. We are also looking for two umpires. I understand that they need to be "funny and patient".
The season has begun and membership fees are now due for 2016. Thank you very much to those who have already paid.
Following the Club’s AGM, there have been some changes to the Club’s membership fees from 2015. The discounted rate remains unchanged at £110 for seniors, payable by the end of May but it will increase to £135 from 1 June. The subs for a parent of a colt have also increased to £70 while subs are £25 for students and non-workers.
There is also a "pay subscriptions online" page on the website with the relevant links to pay for both members who have who have not used the online system before.
As in previous years we expect subs to be paid by the end of May and the system automatically increases the fee from £110 to £135 from 1 June so make sure you pay on time! Our cricket chairman Phil West has also made it clear that those who have not paid up by the end of May will not be top of his list at selection.
200 Club – your chance to win!
The system allows you to pay by instalments for those who wish to do so and also includes details on the 200 club, which only costs £20 to join. 50% of all the money raised will be put into the prize pot with draws taking place monthly from the end of May. One number costs £20 and you can purchase a number or numbers at the same time as paying your membership. If we can sell 200 numbers the club will raise £2000 a year, which we can reinvest in the club. This also means over £160 is being given away each month in prizes.
The season is here and you may have realised that you do not have sufficient kit for the forthcoming season, or more appropriately it may not be in the club colours. This includes match and training kit, whether it is a club cap, trousers or jumper. Well, worry no more, we have all your requirements here!!!!
Let’s look the part on and off the pitch for the 2016 season!
