The Club were delighted this week to learn that four of our Junior players have been awarded Bedser Scholarships for this season. This scholarship programme, run through the Surrey Cricket Foundation, aims to identify six children who have the potential to become performance cricketers. Six scholarships are awarded annually to children who are state educated in Woking and who are not currently part of the Surrey County Cricket Club Junior pathway. To have four out of the six scholars from the Club is a great achievement for the players themselves, and their coaches.

Many congratulations to Ashane, Elisabeth, Matti and Lewis who represent age groups between U10 and U14.  Elisabeth is the first girl Bedser scholar the Club has had which is especially pleasing. As well as the honour of being a Bedser scholar, they will each receive three 1-2-1 coaching sessions, a 5-week course to further their skills and £200 to be spent on cricket equipment.

Everyone at the Club wishes them every success with the programme and looks forward to them continuing to flourish in the years to come.
