On 14 July W&H hosted the inaugural Woking Business 6 a side charity cricket event at Brewery Rd. The day was organised in benefit of Disability Challengers, a Surrey charity helping local children with disabilities get their rightful share of fun through play and sport with its vital Summer Programme over the holiday period. The day was a roaring success with £500 being contributed by participating organisations to this worthy cause. W&H would like to thank the participating businesses for the generosity and support: Menzies Accountants LLP, Blacktower Financial Advisers and HSBC. A brief match report from Morrisons Solicitors, the day's primary organisers, is below.

Peter Noyce's Menzies Accountants LLP team won the numbers game in the final against HSBC (even though their star batsman suffered the world’s first ever LBW decision to arise from a wide legside beamer at the hands of Woking & Horsell CCs acting umpire).

HSBC had previously beaten Morrisons Solicitors with a winning run off the last ball of the final over in one semi final whilst Chris Bruce’s Blacktower Financial Advisers were top sportsmen for fielding a 6 a side team from an office of 6 and were improving all evening as Morrisons Solicitors edged the Plate Final against them.

Funniest moment was when Woking & Horsell’s own Mike Walsh (HSBC) just failed to prevent a boundary and carried on chasing the ball into the changing rooms clattering into sets of stumps and being locked in there for good measure.
